Question:
Is it safe to live in Compton?

My friend just got a very high-paying job at the Ralphs headquarters in Compton. First of all, I have no idea why the largest grocery chain in California would have its headquarters in a place like Compton. Is it safe for him to work there?

Yes it is safe. The Ralph's Headquarters are in an industrial park on the south side of the 91 Freeway at Wilmington. There are numerous security patrols due to all the businesses there. It is really closer to Carson, and Dominguez Hills than Compton. Cal State Dominguez Hills is just around the block. It is a safe area. Why Compton? LOWER property taxes. Their warehouse is HUGE covering almost the entire block.

Before becoming disabled I would pass it every other night on my way to work. There isn't ANY residential areas near by.

Depend in what part of Compton. Compton has change. Do you know BELKIN? The company who makes the covers for the i pod? Well the headquarters are in Compton. Two-years ago, that Company made millions in profit. Ralphs have the headquarters in Compton, because it is located in the good part of Compton and low taxes. Compton is not like what people say it is. Check out the new stores, closed to the Ralphs headquarters by Alameda and 91 freeway. Some parts of Compton are nice and calm. For example, the mayor he is a district attorney. My dad he works in a high paying job, in Beverly Hills and we live in Compton. You should check out the city. Also check out the new townhouses in Compton being constructed. For example, there are some new houses in Alameda and Mryhh.

Like someone else said, that headquarters is in the industrial part of Compton. And as a matter of fact, it's right off the freeway (I just passed there today). That's actually a safe area. THE WHOLE CITY IS NOT A WARZONE.

I am a social worker (child protection services) that spends A LOT of time in the ghettos of LA county. I have to admit that some of the nicest houses I've seen - and been inside of - have been in Compton. That said, I wouldn't want to live in Compton, but commuting there should be fine. Gardena or Carson have some pretty decent neighborhoods and they aren't too far from Compton.

I don't think it would be safe to live there, but working there he should be alright. I think he should take the job but find someplace to live in one of the neighboring communities. I do that myself. I have a job that's actually 2 counties away from where I live. It's not that bad

Its not the safest place but your more likely gonna die by getting eaten by a shark, car accident, lightning strike, hurricane, tsunami then getting shot at in compton.

Compton is just like any other city.

Probably safe working there. If he's single, might be safe to live there. But if he has a family, he may want to commute in from a neighboring city.
