Hollywood driving tips during the OSCARS weekend?

My GF and I were fortunate enough to win bleacher seats at the Oscars this February. The Academy recommended that we arrive at least the Saturday before, and we will be driving down from Fresno. It's been many years since I've driven in So Cal, and I'm wondering about the traffic in Hollywood and the freeway system on Oscars weekend. We were planning on leaving early Saturday morning, and our hotel is a block from the Kodak. How bad is the traffic on the Saturday before Oscars night? Any suggestions on just how early we should leave Fresno? Any tips on the best route to take to get to the area? Needless to say, we're not experienced in driving the LA highway system. We strangers to So Cal would appreciate any good advice!

I just avoid the area and enjoy the pretentious stars shivering in the cold from my living room.

Since your hotel is near the event, contact the concierge for specific recommendations. Traffic is blocked on several streets near the Oscars. Once you arrive at the hotel and park you will most likely want to walk or take the Red Line train if you do sight seeing. It normally takes me about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to drive to and from Fresno. I would leave to arrive soon after check in time. Have fun!!

The website below is for 2010 so check closer to your arrival date for street closures. Call your hotel and ask them how you can get to your hotel.
