I'm from Indiana and I'm flying into San Diego.
I want to stay somewhere between LA and San Diego.

Julian, east of San Diego and Escondido is a quiet little town filled with history, little boutique shops and a ton of bed-and-breakfasts. I recommend the Wikiup B&B. They have four different beautifully themed rooms and incredibly good breakfasts.

Hotel del Coronado is a beautiful luxury hotel on Coronado Island (right on the beach) in San Diego. It is very famous and has a long history of famous clients and "hauntings."

La Jolla. It's right on the beach and very relaxed. You can rent a small cabin just footsteps away from the beach. They have the most amazing shops too.

la jolla is a beaute. also, seal beach is my personal favorite, fairly quiet on it's own, so it has the charming beach town thing going, but it's also in between huntington beach and long beach, so there's tons of stuff to do nearby.
