Obviously Yosemite would be a GREAT option for a wonderful getaway from the hectic life of southern cal. I would also like to recommend Big Sur, CA on the coast near San Francisco. It is also one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and it's also on the way to Yosemite! It would make a great pitstop if you're planning on driving!

Go to Canada, either Vancouver or Toronto. Vancouver has great mountain views, but Toronto has incredible city life, restaurants, plays, etc. It's really a cultural paradise. New York run by the Swiss someone once said. And, you get the benefit of the lower Canadian dollar.

I live in California too (SoCal) and I'm going up to Yosemite for one week vacation. Gunna rent an RV and do it up!!!

Come down to the Lake of The Ozarks, MO. Biggest man made lake, tons of fun!!! Just look it up!!!
