I want to move somewhere near LA, except a place that has cheaper housing. Palmdale seems like a great place, we drove by it a few times before and it seems really laid back. I live in New York City right now, but I've always liked Cali especially Los Angeles. I can't afford to live in Downtown LA though, I also wouldn't want too.

I'd like a place I could really call home. Somewhere nice, quiet and family orientated. It's also near LA where I have some close friends in Glendale and North Hollywood. They say crime in Palmdale is bad but I doubt it's worse than crime in downtown la.

So any opinions? As for weather, I really don't care. I like cold weather but since Palmdale is a dessert it probably has a strong amount of both.

Which areas in Palmdale are the nicest most luxurious? Any advice would be helpful.

I don't think that's a wise choice. Moving from NYC (where you have a million things to do) to Palmdale (where there is nothing to do) is a bad move. You're 70 miles from anywhere good. It's hot in summer and freezing in winter. It's not nice, not as quiet as you think, and definitely not family-oriented like you're thinking. Palmdale is not a desert version of Mayberry or Danbury CT. Crime there is only slightly better than LA.

Your call, but you asked my opinion. I say no.

I have a great deal of experience with Palmdale. The town is not bad at all, just a small town with few entertainment options and very little excitement.

I actually like Palmdale and would move there again.

Yes I was thinking S)anta C)larita too, but more focus on Canyon Country as you do your search. They're basically twin cities and C)C) is the the better side Nicer homes cleaner homes and sense of community. So the people are nicer, and country and this area is closer to LA plus that cool ride into North Hollywood. Look it up....

Get a job, then move.

I looked in Palmdale. I decided that it was too far out.

Look into Santa Clarita, west side, along Rt 5.

I had an apartment in Encino. We bought a townhome in Tarzana.
