I know LA isn't that famous for taxis, but I am wondering if finding one at the train station or downtown LA hotels would be difficult. Thanks in advance!

(Please do not paste a link for the taxi companies, I've seen it.)

heres the fare sheet for Los Angeles city taxis

2. $0.35 For each additional 1/7th mile ($2.45 per mile).

3. $0.35 For each 47.5 seconds waiting time and/or traffic delay ($26.53 per hour).

4. $42.00 Flat fare for trips between LAX and downtown.

5. $2.50 Surcharge for all trips originating at LAX.

I need a cab from Union Station to Santa Monica Days Inn, at Santa Monica Blvd. My train, the Coast Starlight, is scheduled to arrive at 10pm. The busses are not running at this late. So I am resigned to the reality that I will have to make the great financial sacrifice and cab it on over. Anyway ideas on how much $ I will be doling out?

Yes, there are always taxis lined up outside Union Station. Go to the west end, which is the older side, as that is closer to the Westin part of town.

Yes, a lot of standing outside, you can get on anytime.

There is one hotel near union station call metro plaza hotel ($79), several around downtown financial area.
