Hey, I have been dying to go to California for the past 5 years. Im 36, my husband is 37 and I have 2 kids that are 15 and 8. We live in Ottawa, Canada. We don't want the fanciest hotel and we just want the best experience you can get incalifornia for relatively a fair price.

Depends on what you want to do. Disneyland alone will cost at least $400 for one day pass, plus food

and souvenirs.

If you are planning to drive in the LA area, get a freeway map and plan your rout out beforehand.

Keep in the correct turn lanes before you have to branch off.

My guess would be around $4000 to $6000.

I suggest going to Disneyland since yes it may be very expensive but I would say it is fair price and it just a bit more then Universal's one day ticket and disneyland at both parks have much more then universal. Me and my family of 4 (also from Ottawa coincidence) what we did was we stay at a cheap hotel close to redondo beach that was close to LA and one day drove down to Newport Beach and seeing the beaches from Redondo to Newport. Then the next day we went to Hollywood and all that stuff, like Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Sign, and Hollywood Blv. The next day we went to a Super 8 REALLY close to Disneyland so we could go 3 days there. But on the day we went to the hotel we only went to downtown disney since it would be a waste to enter a park after 3. So we went 3 days to Disneyland. 1 to California Adventure and 2 to Disneyland Park and a second day is really needed if you want to see it all since the park is VERY big and has many many attractions and shows. For our family of four we paid 900 USD for everyone for those 3 days for park hopper and we are a family of very low income and we still think it is very very VERY worth it. And for me it is the best thing to do in California. My dad is 53 my mom is 49, my sister 18, and im 16 and we all love disney and think they are the best parks and defenetly would always pay that much to go to it. Also if you dont care about the fancy hotel the Disneyland resorts are not really a benefit. You dont get much like the ones at Disney World. So if you plan to go to disneyland find a nice priced hotel close to it and just walk/drive to the parks. Super 8 at disneyland drive was the best price for us since it had breakfast, a pool, free wifi and was REALLY close to disneyuland but we had to drive and park to the not even 2 minites drive to the disneyland parking since if we did walk it would take about 30 mins and after a full day of parks and at midnight it would be very tireding. After we drove to San Francisco but thats not South California and it is 5 hours away from LA but my parent want to take us there since they enjoyed it very much.

Really for me the best of California (well one of the best in the world) is disneyland. It is my favourite park in the world and my favourite place in the world. So I hope you enjoy it.

Also if you plan to drive. PLAN YOUR ROUTES FIRST. It is way more chaotic then here in canada and it can be hard if you dont really know where you are going. We have a great sense of direction and planned all our routes carefully and we almost got lost multiple times.

Would all depend on what you want, there are several free travel sites that can bundle a whole package for you, I have used kayak several times and it is great, but as far as me giving you an answer Id have to know a lot more than what was provided, goodluck and safe travels friend!
