Im heading down to L.A. in August with my wife and my two kids. One is 11 one is 15. Is the TMZ Hollywood Tour worth the price, and is it at least child friendly? If so, or even if not, does anyone else have other Tour recommendations?

Hi Leandro!

I would not pay full price for a ticket when you can get a sightseeing pass. Check out Trippin Thru California. I'll post a link to all the movie studio tours in LA. Hope this helps and have fun!

If you've ever watched the TMZ show, that should give you an idea of the stuff that they point out. Personally, I would not go on this tour, since I cannot stand TMZ. I think celebrity gossip is a waste of time. So, reading reviews at yelp.com, I found out that the tour guide takes you to the sites of "important Hollywood events", such as the location where Hugh Grant picked up the hooker, or the liquor store Halle Berry crashed into while drunk. Really emphasizes the seedy side of Hollywood.

For more kid-friendly fare, go with a Starline Tour. They may be a bit cheesier, but at least you don't have to explain to your 11YO what a prostitute does. Don't expect to see any celebrities, but once in a long while an eagle-eyed tour guide might point one out.

Although I have not been on the TMZ tour I do know it is not a studio tour – they are part of Warner Bros.

Starline Tours has been around forever and they offer different types of tours and I would imagine is more kid friendly that TMZ.
